The last regular event of the Casino Outdoor Bass Electric series was the 2019 Casino Outdoor Grand Final held on the Richmond River at Coraki. I was very excited coming into this event as it’s my home water way and love fishing river events and was lucky enough to come away with 2nd place.
Pre Fish Day.
Pre fish day saw myself searching some reaches up rover for the start without finding to much at all I stuck to my plan and run down river to the area I wanted to fish during the tournament. Upon arrival I landed around 8 Bass very quickly and just left the area as I knew it was going to be key to any success.
Day 1
With a good plan in my head I made the huge 1hour 40min run down river to my key area where I filled a limit in no time at all. I positioned the boat in around 15ft of water and made long cast up current sinking the blade to the bottom and retrieving it with sharp small hops. I landed around 60 fish for the session and returned back to the weigh in to see myself sitting in 3rd place after day 1.
Day 2
Story of day 2 I made the long run down river to again but didn’t get the fish to buy for around one hour as the tide wasn’t quite right. When the tide was perfect and the prawns started to bite were in filled a small limit straight away and continued to upgrade through the entire day. The technique was the same as the day before and keeping the blade in contact with the bottom was key.
I returned back to the weigh in to find I had climbed up into 2nd place. I would love to thank Valleyhill Japan for their ongoing support throughout the year.
