The Valleyhill Bass Electric open was held for the first time at Wyaralong Dam and what an event it was. Big entry fee gave back big payouts and prizes we’re I was happy to take away 5th place.
Pre fish Day
Having previously won an event on this lake I headed straight to the same areas I had previously fished although these areas no longer had any water on them as the lake had dropped. I searched some deeper trees and found that the fish were suspended in 15ft in and around the trees. I managed A few fish through the day and had a plan ready for comp day.
Day 1
At the start of day 1 we were faced with strong wind and heavy rain so I headed half way up the lake to my first area we’re I managed to land my first legal straight away. I stuck with this area for around 1 hour with no more luck so I decided to make the big run right up the back of the lake to an area I found the day before. Upon arrival I hooked up straight away and managed to fill out my 5 fish limit of the one tree. The key to success was throwing lv-500 and slow rolling them through the suspended fish around the timber. Once I filled my limit o moved back down the lake we’re I managed to land 2 nice upgrades. I finished the first day in 3rd place.
Day 2
At the start of day 2 the weather conditions were complete opposite with bright sun and blue sky’s it was going to be a tuff bite. I made the 1hour 10min trip to we’re I filled my limit the day before but the bite was a lot tougher as it took 2hours to land my first bass. I stuck there for another 30mins with no more fish so decided I needed to move to fill my limit. I returned to an area I upgraded the day before and changed my approach by targeting the individual suspended fish with blades. This proves vital as I filled my limit almost immediately. Although they were small fish it was enough for me to hang onto a top 5 finish.
