The last round of the Casino Outdoor Bass Electric series was held at Wivenhoe dam in terrible conditions with 40kph winds. I was lucky enough to get my limit 2/2 for 1.79kg and secure 3rd place.
Pre Fish.
Arriving at the ramp on pre fish saw us faced with extremely strong winds and large waves on the lake. Having knowledge that there were fish holding out on a ridge line that’s were a headed were I landed to bass immediately. The bite then shut down and went several hours without landing a fish. By this time I had meet up with fellow competitor Charles west and he indicated that I should look in the area where he was. We both fished side by side and landed some quality fish during the afternoon and this would be the starting location for competition day.
Comp Day.
Unfortunately the strong winds only got stronger overnight and I knew it was going to be a very tuff day. I headed straight to the first location were around 8 other boats were also fishing. I opted to throw a Rezan 40g metal to cover lots of area in the wind. About an Hour into the session I hooked a large bass and unfortunately pulled the hooks at the boat. I knew then I may have missed my opportunity but, I just keep casting and eventually got my first fish in the well. Not long after a small school sat under the boat and I opted to drop a Rein 14g blade down and worked it vertically to get my second bass in the well. With the wind getting stronger it’s was becoming very tuff to fish although I stuck at bit and managed one upgrade before I headed back.
I would like to thank Valleyhill Japan for their ongoing support and Charles west for sharing his knowledge.
